We have many funded projects in the area of DNA sequence analysis which run the gamut from wet-lab experiments to algorithm development. These include integrating protein mass spectrometry and gene prediction, verifying genes with RT-PCR, predicting alternatively spliced transcripts, and utilizing traceback coalescence points to drastically reduce memory for Viterbi decoding of Hidden-Markov models. We expect the individual hired for this position to contribute to the research goals of the Computational Genomics Laboratory. A Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field and proficiency in UNIX, Perl, and C are all highly desirable. Familiarity with bioinformatics is a plus. The job status is full-time. Pay will be commensurate with experience.
